South Korea group EXO’s chen has a bright and cheery personality, he also has a good voice recieving a lot of love from the fans. It was previously revealed on 《Weekly Idol》 that Chen and his family are Catholics and his baptism name is “Mateo”. When he has free time, he will often go to church with his mother and help the underprivileged.
Recently netizens found out that Chen quietly donated 5 million KRW (about 6000SGD) helping those with financial diffculties hence raising the attention of many.
A twitter user has shared that her mother has read on a church bulletin that a brother named “Kim Jongdae Mateo” donated 5 million KRW in order to help families that are in need and this kind person who donated generously is Chen. The user also expressed that even though her mother does not know EXO’s Chen but she knows about the brother “Kim Jongdae Mateo” who always does charity.
Last year, a fan has discovered on the church’s name registry that Chen had also made a donation of 3million KRW (about 3600SGD) to the church for renovation purposes. Although this is related to his religion but Chen always gives back to the society within his means. Because of his charitable acts, the fans has an increased admiration for him calling him “Angel Oppa”.
